I just had my dealer (Memory Location) attempt to install the new Fat Agnus chip on my Amiga 2000. (KickStart 1.3 had been installed successfully earlier.) However, when attempting to autoboot from my Pacific Peripherals OverDrive hardcard, not only did the autoboot fail, but the hard disk autoboot partition got corrupted! Some kind of "key error" was reported, and the system crashed. Sure enough, DiskDoctor reported that "key 5450 unreadable" (I don't remember the exact number). The system still boots properly off a floppy. It's just when I attempt to autoboot from the Overdrive hardcard that this (repeatable) problem occurs. The only other clue I have is that the autoboot failed early in the Startup-Sequence, after echoing some messages to the screen. The section involved contains such things as GOMF 3.0 and SetPatch. Has anyone else experienced similar troubles with Fat Agnus, either involving a hard disk, GOMF 3.0, SetPatch, or whatever? I tried calling Hypertek/Silicon Springs to ask them about GOMF 3.0 with Fat Agnus, but apparently their telephone number is no longer in service. Have they gone out of business, moved to a new location, or what?
