BAUD: Named after Emile Baudot 1 signalling speed in bauds = --------------------------------------------- length of shortest signalling element in secs Example: A modulator receives a binary signal at 2400 bits per second, the information is grouped into "chunks" of 4 bits each and the carrier is modulated in some fashion depending upon the bit structure of the "chunks". If the duration of each bit is exactly the same in seconds, then you have 600 bauds in this example. Lets stick to bits per second. Tom
