[comp.sys.amiga] SetCpu & Noclick work!

dwl10@uts.amdahl.com (Dave Lowrey) (07/14/89)

Just a quick note:

A recently posted an inquiry concerning the fact that SetCpu v1.5
didn't noclick on my amiga 2500.

Well....after invoking the CORRECT version in my startup sequence,
(I was actually using 1.4) everythin works great!!!

Sorry to cause a fuss.

I guess this is grovelling time :-). I also complained that SetCPU 1.5's
patch of the Workbench screen made programs like MyMenu and HandyIcons
unusable. Well... uhhh... The DOG ate my homework! Yeah, that's the ticket!

Seriously, Dave Haynie suggested patching the binary with newzap, to change
the reference from 'Workbench' to 'Fastbench'. I had tried this on
HandyIcons when I first got SetCPU, but it didn't do the trick. In fact,
it caused the machine to FREEZE (no guru, no flashing lights, no pretty
colors, no nothing!). So, I assumed there would be similar problems with
MyMenu. I was wrong. Works great. Grovel, grovel. I just copied the
binary to 'FastMenu' (I confuse easily), edited (editted?) it, and off we
went. This also works for DropCloth (FastCloth), in case anyone is
interested.
