I can only post to this net so I hope users wont be to PO'ed. Ive gotten to level 83 in populus and cant beat it. Any hints? Dan

If that is one of the levels where the computer "volcanos" you every minute then I have a strategy. It took me 3 days of continuous play to finally beat it at that stage (the rest seemes to be easier and funner: can only build UP, can't do anything but knight:-) Anyway, multi-sprog you people so you can build a population FAST. Use the "Go to papal magnet mode" and put the papal magnet in the computers direction. Have your people head into the computers land and build on the way. The computer will laden (SP?) your land with volcano after volcano. You HAVE to keep moving toward the computer and building there becaues he will ruin the land you were first on. He will then start collecting his people together to make a knight. As soon as does, save your game, then swamp him right there. If the knight doesn't fall in then reload the saved game and swamp again, if unsuccessful swamp, then re-load etc. If you don't have the swamp option then make sure AFTER you have multi-sprogged you make room for CASTLES so they can eventually fight off the knight. Ok, now that you are relatively close to the computer and your old land is a full of volcanos, you can start surrounding the computer. He will continue to make knights, but WON'T expand his number of buildings unless you destroy some or take some over. Move your people around one side of the computer and build castles. Do the same to the other side and slowly you will surround him. You will still have less population but you are getting ready for the kill. Save your game every once in a while so if something drastic happens and you get wiped out, you don't have to start all over. Now that you are surrounding the computer with a row or two of castles on two to three sides of him, you can click once with the build mouse button ON TOP of the computer houses and castles. He will most lkely be in "go to papal magnet mode" so the person you just uprooted will head away and you can now sprog one of your houses and have them build a house right there. Sontinue to do this ALL around the computer (oops) I meant CONTINUE, not SONTINUE. Anyway, you will slowly squeeze the computer in, but it won't be easy. If you can make a knight then do so but DON'T spend too much time doing so or your people will lose ground because they won't be making houses. Check to see if his people are strong and if they arent't then you can go into attack mode. If they are then do not because you're people won't be strong enough to beat them. If you can do a volcan then do so but not unless you have enough manna to do it TWICE ON THE SAME SPOT. This will REALLY wipe out a BIG spot of the computers and make his people run into each other and he will lose population. Save you game, and then when those people get to the bottom floor, swamp them, if you can. Continue to close the computer in and eventually you will win. Continue to build a knight and send it around to take out the computer. If you can't knight then build up your leader and place the papal magnet on a computer castle and move it around attacking the computer that way. Good Luck! I am on level 203 right now and still have a long way to go to get to 500 but it gets fun around 100 to 200 with the options they give me. One level doesn't allow ANY buildin AT ALL!!! That was a fun one. We could ony walk around and build on the mountains. No castles, just teepees and straw houses mostly. Have Fun!!!
