If you are interested in the Sharp JX-100 full color scanner then now is the time to ask your dealer to get in touch with Sharp!!!! The JX-100 is a handy (not quite hand held) color scanner which can scan images up to 4 inches by 6.4 inches in size (nice match for 640 by 400 at 100 dots per inch). The scanner will operate in 1 bit monochrome, 3 bit color, 6 bit grey, and 18 bit color. It will be out around September (so Sharp says) and will list for less than 1000 dollars including Amiga software. Unlike Sharp's other scanners (the JX-450 and JX-300) the JX-100 will require no additional hardware interfaces. That means it will work on all 3 Amiga types (A500, A1000 and A2X00). Sharp is planning their allocation strategies now, and to be ho- nest, doesn't know a thing about the Amiga market. So if you're interested in the JX-100 color scanner...ask your dealer to call Sharp or call yourself. They have a toll free number: 1-800-Be-Sharp. (groan). If your voice isn't heard, we run the risk of having most of the JX-100 allocated to (ugh) IBM dealers. Say, maybe you should call even if you're not interested. :-) perry btw: 18 bit color is 262,000 colors. not bad. -- Perry Kivolowitz, ASDG Inc. ARPA: madnix!perry@cs.wisc.edu {uunet|ncoast}!marque!
