[comp.sys.amiga] A couple of AmigaOS *2.0* questions

usenet@cps3xx.UUCP (Usenet file owner) (07/19/89)

[Are there any more line eaters out there?]

Since the next release of the AmigaOS is sposta be soooo wonderfull
and have lotsa of new and better things, isn't it likely
that it will be known as version 2.0 instead of a measely 1.4?

Real question: Will there be an actuall ENV: handler as the
1.3 update manual says? If so, is it OK to make subdirectories? Is
it ok to make arbitrary files, possibly somewhat large files?
I guess the real question is: Will ENV: handler have a filesystem, or
will it be like PIPE:?

As for PIPE:, could it *please* support a DIR operation on it, and
possibly a delete?

No, the OS will be known as 1.4.

ENV: will remain as an assign for the moment.

I have heard several times that C= is saving 2.0 for a NON-COMPATIBLE
version of the OS, claiming to do a total rewrite.
