I am going to buy a hard disk for my 500 and have some questions: (they have all probably been asked before but I need to know) The july amigaworld says the fastest hard drive for the 500 is the Xetec but when I called a dealer (The Memory Location in Boston) they said that the product amigaworld tested and the product sold were not the same and that amigaworld is going to retract what they said about recommending this drive/controller (Is this true?) Is the Commodore A590 a fast controller? (I dont really care about the speed/size of the drive since I can get a fast large drive fairly cheaply) What about an expansion chasis for the 500 with a 2000 drive controller? Any recommendations/warnings would be helpful. Please send responses via Email. If someone else is interested I can mail them a summary of responses.
