Well I think it's finally time for me to take the plunge and get a Hardd drive for my 1000. I've been wondering what kind of systems people have and how reliable, fast, etc. these are... One combination I was thinking about was getting an expansion box and getting a high performance hard card (possibly a hardframe and a 40MB quantum drive). Is there anyone out there with a similar setup? I also have a Starboard II memory expansion, so I want to know if anyone has had problems with memory expansion... Also If someone has some diskperf info on the SCSI module I'de appreciate it, my main concern is getting a HD that I can eventually use if I upgrade to a 2500 (or 3000 by the time I get the cash). I'de like to get a drive with reasonable speed and storage, (Over 100K/s RW would be nice), but mostly I'de like a reliable system. Any input is appreciated..... // Rick Golembiewski rg20+@andrew.cmu.edu \\ \\ #include stddisclaimer.h // \\ "I never respected a man who could spell" // \\ -M. Twain //

I am running my A1000 with a Comspec SCSI controller and a 360 Meg Maxtor, as well as a 40Meg Seagate, and both devices work extremely well. I have had the Comspec unit for well over a year now, and nay a problem. The beauty of this controller (from an A1000 point of view) is that you can install the latest version of Kickstart on the Hard Drive, and autoboot a la A2000/500. I'd highly recommend this unit ...(though it's a bit pricey!) And no, I'm not associated with Comspec. -- Mark Vange Phone Death Threats to: Vanguard Distributing (416) 730-1352 mark@xrtll 8 Everingham Ct.
