As well as hearing of them trying to foist used equipment off on people, I have also heard of the above practice where they buy the stock of failed/failing Amiga dealers and mail-order houses at fire-sale prices. Ironically, they then turn around and advertise prices that are BELOW DEALER COST - no legitimate dealer can buy through Commodore and sell at those prices. Go figure: A close approximation for dealer cost on Amigas here in the U.S. is 2/3 of full retail. At my last look, there are no quantity discounts and limited "hold-back" money - and even that is only for AUTHORIZED Amiga dealers. So by undercutting the "competition", they then contribute to the downfall of other Amiga vendors whose inventories they are able to raid after driving them out of business. Something ain't kosher, folks, so caveat emptor. < Lionel ---------- (new address, phone will soon change) Lionel Hummel 409 Kenwood, Champaign, IL 61821 University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign [H] (217)344-5303 [W] (217)333-7408 hummel@cs.uiuc.edu {pur-ee,uunet}!uiucdcs!hummel BIX: lhummel
