[comp.sys.amiga] Handshake w/ Dmouse problems, and Current Handshake version.

eric@haberfellner.UUCP (Eric Haberfellner) (07/28/89)

First of all, many thanx for all of the kind comments about Handshake that
have been made in this newsgroup recently. They serve greatly to spur
the author (me) on to yet greater things.

The currently released version of Handshake is still v2.12a. The v2.20a
verison is a beta which has been distributed to a few select testers. I
hope to have a new release version soon, but I would like to try and get
international keyboard support in first. I am off to SigGraph for the next
week, maybe I'll get to work on it the week after that. There are also a
few small bugs which have been reported with the beta version that I will
have to fix.

If anyone has any idea what is causing the conflict with Dmouse, please
pass along the info. From the net traffic, it looks as if Handshake is not
the only program which has this problem, but obviously other programs do
not exhibit this behaviour. I would like to put the next version firmly
in the second category. Handshake uses a slightly overscan screen,
660 x 204, could this be the problem?

Keep those cards and letters coming in!

If it's any help, Eric, I'm running DMouse 1.10 on both my systems
and I've never had a problem with Handhshake/Dmouse (either 2.12a or 2.20beta).
DMouse is invoked with 'DMouse -s0 -m50 -c2 -w1 -A0 -C NewShell FROM

Most of the problems that people are reporting, is GURUing on an
Xmodem download/upload when you unblank the screen. Bill is not
blanking his screen (-s0), so he won't see this problem.

If I was to hazard a guess (not having the source code), I would say that
the problem lies somewhere in the Xmodem code. (Duh)

 I hope you squash it.

I have found a problem with Handshake that doesn't seem to be
connected with DMouse or any other program. In Access! Amiga-/ is
the phone book. If you type this in Handshake, it locks up.
