The version I got from Dynamix, AmigaUUCP .50 works fine at transferring
compressed batched news(binary). I believe it is based on GNU UUCP. It came
with source and requires the Lettuce compiler to rebuild it. I haven't built
it from sources yet, been trying to avoid getting two compilers. I have
a 2500 and run the uucico hourly using DCRON. I have had some problems
calling sun systems, although they could call me???? Something to do with
role reversal not working properly. I call a 386 based system running
Unix to get mail and news, this has been working nicely since March.
I get about 10 newsgroups including comp.*.amiga, which is already too
much to keep up with. Sigh!

I wonder how many others managed to get Dynamix AmigaUUCP working? Is
it still available from William Loftus? Have their been any updates since
.50? Did anyone get it working using Manx? Has anyone implemented a
expire type program? Has anyone had luck calling sun systems?

The rnews program I have collapses the normal directory hierarchy into one
directory. Newsgroups map to one directory group.group.group,
i.e. :news/comp.sys.amiga instead of /usr/news/comp/sys/amiga .
What structure does yours use? Do you have rn working?
Will the version of rn in news C work with this sort of structure?
It would be nice to get a better news reader, Anews makes
me hit a lot of "d"'s !!! 8-)

I have a dedicated phone line for my amiga which makes automating this
stuff worthwhile. I love it when I'm playing away on my amiga and it
dials out automatically, it really impresses people when I explain
what my little amiga is doing!!

Could you send your version to Fred Fish and perhaps comp.sources.amiga?
