[net.general] UNICOM Vendors' Exhibit - personal comment

I thought that sales representatives of computer companies
were interested in selling products and making money. However,
I found that some salesmen engage in very self defeating behavior.
I am working for a company of about 700 engineers and I have some
say about buying new products. At UNICOM I talked to some salesmen
who were very informative, however, some of them have not yet
accepted the fact that women buy coputers for companies. Some of
the salesmen were very condescending and talked down to me. One of
them had the gall to refer me to one of their other customers in
this city - someone who has far less experience than I and from whom I
would never seek engineering advice. I had to make my credentials
very clear to this man before he would even discuss my questions.
So you entrepreneurs out there - tell your salesmen not to be rude to
women engineers requesting information at your company's exhibit.
