My wrinkly old A1000 has just sprouted a problem. The Internal drive works perfectly, until I try to use it to *format* a disk. It fails to do that, saying that there is a bad sector number. Maybe it's my imagination, but it also seems to make a different clicking sound when empty, than it used to. I expect I'll have to try to find someone who still fixes 1000s, but I wondered if this was a common problem -- it seems best to go as prepared as possible into the open jaws of the repair shop! I recently (6mths ago) gave it a Spirit InBoard and a Spirit HDA-506 hard disk adaptor (both were installed by the dealer). If you reply by mail and there's a whole wodge of info I'll summarise it, honest. Meanwhile I still have one external drive to format on. (One wheel on my wagon...) Tim -- -- Tim Magee
