papa@pollux.usc.edu (Marco Papa) (03/28/89)

The press release about A-Talk III's support of the ASDG cards and list
of new features for the last release has just appeared in comp.newprod.
I apologize for the delay: the newsgroup is moderated.

I am curious, and I know others are too, does Atalk3 work with a 512K machine?

|Hello Amiga Users:
|
| A few days ago, I get a new modem and software (Supra 2400 and A-Talk III)
|which support graphics (Tek 4014). It have many many features! Its protocols
|contain Xmodem, Ymodem, Ymodem-Batch, Ymodem-g, Zmodem, Wxmodem, Kermit,
|and ASCII-transfer. Its emulations contain VT100, VT52, TTY, ANSI,
|TALK, and Tek 4014. I use zmodem for transfers. It is pretty fast!
|
| I found two bugs in VT100 emulations:
| After using EDIT/TPU, it returned to DCL command, its cursor was
|gone and its screen froze until emulation had reseted!
| While I typed some keys, incoming messages on other window, it
|screwed up on incoming windows! (using Xyzzy-Vax Chatting Facility)
| My current version is 1.0e. Any latest version? Please let me know
|how to get update to new version. Thanks!

Release 1.0e is a very 'old' version (in terms of the quantity of my updates
to OXXI :-) The current version is 1.1e. I just shipped Release 1.2 to OXXI
that adds support for XPR protocol, a few other goodies and fixes (including
the ones for the bugs you mentioned). Call OXXI for details on how to upgrade.
Sorry for the delay in the reply, but I was away for two weeks. I am 900
messages behind. Sigh :-(

Yes, A-Talk III will work with 512K machines - it uses about 300K
of memory. If you boot off their workbench disk there is no problem.
But a 512K machine won't do if you load workbench, have some resident
commands, run Arexx, etc.

Yes, it does. In VT100 mode you'll have space left for other programs to
multitask. In Tek 4014 interlace you should have enough space if you don't run
other programs in the background. If that is a problem you can try and run with
Tek non-interlace, 1-bitplane, which will consume the least video memory for
the tek custom screen. I will not release a version that does NOT run on 512K.
