[comp.sys.amiga] Applause for Dave Haynie

hunt@tramp.Colorado.EDU (Lee Cameron Hunt) (08/29/89)

Just a quick pat on the back...

I'm currently having troubles with my HardFrame 2000 and REV 6 Amiga
2000 (it constantly gives me read/write errors). The service dept of the
dealer I bought it from has been out for a week (and still is...) and
rumors were abounding about what could be wrong, pullup resistors, bad
U605 chips, etc. So I decied to contact Dave Haynie (one of the famed
architects of the current Amiga 2000). I wrote my letter in haste, late
last Friday night on my ailing Amiga (with AmigaBasic's "Terminal" program).
It was full of typos and was badly worded.
However I come back to work this Monday morning and to my pleasant
surprise I had received a long, well worded and thought out explanation of
the past 2000 REV problems and fixes and the current quandry with the
HardFrame. I was completely impressed!

   Thanks Dave!

(just one thing, if you're listening, Dave: could you tell me
who I could/should contact about this problem since you are not directly
handling it?)

I am also having many problems with me Hardframe and my Amiga 2000. My
motherboard is of the older Rev. 4.3 with the Fatter Agnus installed. I
would greatly appreciate knowing what could possibly be wrong. Evidence
points to my Quantum 40S, but I would rather make sure it isn't my Hardframe
combined with the fatter Agnes.

For anyone else out there who has any ideas my setup is:

  Amiga 2000 Rev. 4.3
  Micron 2 Meg board
  Bridgeboard 2088
  Hardframe with Quantum 40S

The problem is intermittent, but when the read/write errors start I cannot boot off of the harddrive and the installation program cannot find the drive on the
system.
