FTP to subject system seems broke once again. An LS returns a 'data
socket not built (0,0,0,0)' or something like that again. Is there
someone we can email to report such problems that can get it fixed?
It seems like someone said they would take care of it whenever things
like this happen, but I can't recall the name. Cheers, Dave
PS> Does anyone else plan to load up more of the current Fish collection
for anon FTP?????

Hi, I'm not the uihub administrator, but I play one when nobody's looking :-)
The main problem is that the Wollongong TCP/IP package running on hub has a
propensity to hang its ftpd's, still holding onto their sockets. There is a
bug-fixed version of the software, which the administrator is trying to get
hold of, but says he's being hindered by red tape (any wonder why all of our
other machines run BSD?). In the meanwhile, I got him to reconfigure the
kernel with more streams, but that only delays the inevitable.

Send mail to me or John Carey (carey@cs.uiuc.edu) when you discover a problem
w/uihub and things will get fixed ASAP (note: John will probably get the
message first because I'm not around here that much [I'm out doing some Amiga
programming and starting to look around for real Amiga-related work ... any
leads, anyone?], but make sure you at least cc: to both of us because I'm more
likely to act with dispatch. Y'see, I'm the only one around here who has any
reason to care if uihub is up or not).

Well, up until my contact at CSO vanished into la-la land, I had managed to
foist 1-188 onto uxe.cso.uiuc.edu. If I can get things happening again before
I leave, the stuff from uihub will show up on uxe as well. Nonetheless,
between uihub and uxe, just about all of the Fish, CUCUG, and Amicus disks
are online for anon FTP. Enjoy, as best you can!

Why is uihub.cs.uiuc.edu not responding to ftp? My last successful
access to it was on July 28. It is the only place with disks > ff221.

I had just read the announcement about uihub being back up, and my
heart lept for joy, only to sink once again when my connection timed
out. Is there any possibility that the other fish disks could be
placed on one of the other machines at uiuc , preferably uxe.cso.uiuc.edu.
I have wanted to get the Hampics off of disk 195 for a while to
convert to sun rasterfile format (I got Iff2sun in the nick of time)
to get these pictures into wider distribution (geomag.gly.fsu.edu has
become sort of a picture pit stop for folks seeking sun rasters).
Otherwise, if anyone has hapics lying around, could you alert me (by
e-mail of course) of where they are available. Also, is there ANYONE
else out there who has the fish disks from 195 to the present?
