The *SERIAL* ports on the A2000 and A500 are the same pinouts as on the A1000. Only the gender of the DB25 connector was changed. I got a small (12") 25-conductor ribbon cable, two male and two female DB25 connectors at radio shack. Hooked them all together and can now solve all kinds of gender mis-matches! ----- WARNING ----- The *PARALLEL* port pinout changed significantly! DON'T try this on that port!!!!!!!

Only the gender of the DB25 connector was changed. As far as pins 1 thru 8 and 20 are concerned, the A1000 and A2000 are the same (except for gender). But you should watch out for the pins connected to the +12 and -12 volt power supply. The A1000 has -5V on pin 14, +5V on pin 21, +12V on pin 23. The A2000 has +12V on pin 9, -12V on pin 10, (no +5, no -5). Summary: It is safer to use a 9-wire cable instead of a 25-wire cable. >----- WARNING ----- The *PARALLEL* port pinout changed significantly! >DON'T try this on that port!!!!!!! Right, a simple gender changer can result in +5V being connected to ground. I have wired up a parallel-port adapter that has all pins wired one-for-one except for pins 14-16 and 23-25. It has pin 14 connected to pin 23, 15 to 24, 16 to 25, 23 to 14, 24 to 15, and 25 to 16. It works with Future Sound and DigiView. (The DigiView A500/A2000 adapter has a built in voltage booster/regulator, but I have gotten decent pictures without it.) -- Joe Smith (408)922-6220 | SMTP: JMS@F74.TYMNET.COM or jms@tymix.tymnet.com McDonnell Douglas FSCO | UUCP: ...!{ames,pyramid}!oliveb!tymix!tardis!jms PO Box 49019, MS-D21 | PDP-10 support: My car's license plate is "POPJ P," San Jose, CA 95161-9019 | narrator.device: "I didn't say that, my Amiga did!"
