For the past couple days I have been trying to ftp to one of the Fred Fish sites to get some programs. I have been trying to connect to: uihub.cs.uiuc.edu When I try I just get a connection timed out. I have been able to connect successfully, with no problems to: uxe.cso.uiuc.edu Unfortunately, the one I can't get to has the files I need ff189-222. Does anyone know if this site still exists? If not, where can I pick up files from these disks on the net? Thanks in advance. - Sean

You should be able to get to it now. -Mike Schwager schwager@cs.uiuc.edu -- {uunet,convex,pur-ee}!uiucdcs!schwager schwager%uiuc@csnet-relay.arpa University of Illinois, Dept. of Computer Science

Re: Sean Schur's FTP problems with uihub.cs.uiuc.edu ... It times out for me, too. The uxe.cso.uiuc.edu has all the cucug and Amicus disks. Thad Floryan [ thad@cup.portal.com (OR) ..!sun!portal!cup.portal.com!thad ]

Please! Please! If you're having trouble FTP'ing to UIHUB, send email to me or John Carey (carey@cs.uiuc.edu). It will reach us faster than posting it here, and it won't annoy the folks w/o Internet access. At this time- 9/3/89 at 13:15 CDT- uihub is up and is receiving connections from the outside world. To be precise, I see ftpd connections from 'draken.nada.kth.se' and 'mammutti.utu.fi'. Sometimes, problems connecting to UIHUB occur during times of heavy load - a dozen FTP sessions can do horrible things to a 3B15 and their response times are pretty slow to begin with. So you should also consider doing your FTP'ing during off-peak hours. If someone wishes to open up a machine for the material on UIHUB, which includes Fish 189-236 and CUCUG 1-23, please speak up. I realize that UIHUB is frustrating and annoying, but for as long as I am keeping this stuff online for my own benefit, it is easy enough for me to put it over on UIHUB. < Lionel ---------- Lionel Hummel 409 Kenwood, Champaign, IL 61821 University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign [H] (217)356-6379 [W] (217)333-7408 hummel@cs.uiuc.edu {pur-ee,uunet}!uiucdcs!hummel BIX: lhummel
