I was just down at Creative Computers in Lawndale on Saturday demonstrating X11 at Frank's 2nd Annual opening celebration. I got to use an A2000 with a GVP030 at 30mhz and 32bit memory. That combination really cooks. It was perceptably faster then any other Amiga I have used. I had a copy of xbench along and decided to run it. Here are the results along with a few others for comparison. X11 Release 3, which happens to start shipping Oct 1 for the Amiga if you are interested, was used. line fill blt text arc cmplx xstones ------------------------------------------------------------------------ A2000/GVP030-30 24086 11486 18927 37812 49334 24444 21588 A2500 stock 12228 8483 15872 26812 16960 14379 14145 SUN3/50 10000 10000 10000 10000 10000 10000 10000 A2000 2m mem 5093 4779 11799 11000 8355 6732 6938 To interpret the results: The values from the benchmark for a sun3/50 were normalized to achieve a rating of 10000 for each of its catagories. The higher the rating the supposedly faster the system is. Of course mileage may vary. -- Dale Luck GfxBase/Boing, Inc. {uunet!cbmvax|pyramid}!amiga!boing!dale
