You want high quality (smooth output) from Deluxe Paint III? You should be using a vector drawing program! But I have a couple of suggestions You preferred to be emailed directly, but I suspect many, many people have the same problem, so I thought I would post this publicly. This is a work-around. It's not perfect, but ... it will help improve image quality a little or a lot. a) Create your image as large as you can in high res. in Deluxe Paint III with 1 bit plane (monochrome). b) Print the image as LARGE as your printer will allow (laser output is preferable as some have a smoothing option which helps somewhat) do the printout on good quality smooth, white stock. Nekoosa is an excellent paper for this. Ye old printer paper isn't good enough. c) Take the printout to your nearest printer and have them create a PMT (a photomechanical transfer). Have them shoot the PMT at 35% - 64%, the larger the original and the greater the reduction (up to a point), the blacker and smoother the PMT will appear. The PMT will cost you between $4 and $10. d) Now, if it still isn't smooth enough, enlarge it on a good copier to a really big size, use traditional pen and ink to smooth the contours and shoot another PMT reduction. If you've never used these kinds of tools before, a good graphic artist can help. Good luck! You'd be surprised how much a PMT reduction can improve a raster bitmap image (as you can see, I've been experimenting with ways to improve 'em). By the way, PMT's are black and white. If you're planning to print the logo in color, include registration marks on the printout; it will help later on. The Amiga market is really suffering from a lack of choice in vector drawing tools and conversion tools. (Hope you're listening out there in developer land.) Hope this helps! \_ )\_ _/ `/)\_ __ // __ _____________________________________________ `\\)\_ / '~// /// Julie Petersen (LadyHawke@cup.portal.com `\\//\\/|'//' /// Classic_-_Concepts@cup.portal.com) (\/Yyyy/' __ /// "The things he said have never been disproved /Yyyy/' \\\ /// only dismissed."
