A question on UNIX source code administration: We are an educational facility running 4.1bsd UNIX under an academic license. Currently most UNIX source code is restricted to root access (this includes the operating system and commands). There are times when I, as a user, would like to access system source code, particularly command implementations, for some private reason. I suspect this desire exists at other sites where access is similarly restricted, as I know there are other sites where the restrictions do not exist. Thus the question is: "What kinds of restrictions, if any, should be placed on user access to system source code?" Please mail replies to net.followup, and include your site's current access policies. Chuck Antonelli mb2b!uofm-cv!cja
