Oops!! My posting about the Amiga <--> Mac software has been misinterpreted. What I MEANT to say was: We are endeavoring to write a software package which will be released on both the Amiga and Macintosh. It will be code identical in source with the reasonable exceptions such as user interface, file handling, etc... This is not an attempt to write compatable source outside the normal things you can do with the 'C' programming language. All of the machine specific items will be handled as software drivers, the exact level of these drivers is being fleshed out at this time. Our goal is to maintain the user interfaces which are familiar and unique to each machine. We feel that that is more important than trying for some lofty (at this time) goal of absolute code compatability. Sooooooo....in light of the above, let me briefly rephrase our desires. 1) I want to be able to take ASCII text from one machine to another. Nothing fancy, but it would be nice to be able to compress it some. 2) The binaries that I spoke of would be machine specific, we are not co-located and would like to try out each other's code for the machine for which it was written. 'Nough said. Thanks again. Computers do what you tell them to do, not what you want them to do. |======================================================================| | Allen H.
