[I'm posting this for a friend -- I don't know the answer and it seems unique enough that the local users group might not be able to answer it either. Please send all replies to Kevin directly. Thanks. Pat White (ain@mentor.cc.purdue.edu)] I can get a Conner 40meg hard drive for free. Unfortunately, it is dead. It is from a stock Compaq 286 Deskpro (Type 17). If my info is correct, it is a SCSI drive. If this is true, I believe I can get it repaired (~$150). Is there any way to connect it to my Amiga 2000? Which controller card to use? [can anyone verify that the drive is indeed SCSI?] (Etc.) If this is possible, I'll save the price of a hard drive. Any help I can get will be greatly appreciated. Thanx. [ Poor student asks about using Conner HD w/ Amiga ] My guess is that since it came out of a Compaq Machine it is possibly a IDE drive, that is, it has a IBM AT type controller built into the drive. Take a look at the connector on the back. If it has 40 pins, its a IDE drive. If it has 50 pins, it is SCSI. If it is a IDE drive, it wont work with the A2090, etc, etc. It will work on the GVP 68030 accelerator card tho... That is the *only* card I know of for the Amiga that uses the IDE interface. Hope this helps. Jeff Easton Zenith Data Systems UUCP: !mailrus!sharkey!aucis!easton
