A member of a users group I belong to is having problems using his Canon PJ-1080-A color ink-jet printer. When he tries to print a picture from any of his paint programs, the printer outputs alternating groups of graphics and alphanumeric characters. Each group of alphanumeric characters starts with 'XP', which is supposed to be part of an escape sequence used to control the printer. It appears that something is interfering with these escape codes, causing them to be interpreted as data to be printed. Now for the strange part. When the printer output is re-directed to a file using the CMD program, and the resulting file is copied by hand to the PAR: device, the picture is printed correctly. Another member of the user group has the same model of printer. His printer does not have the same problem. He is using the same preference settings and printer DIP switch settings as the person having the problem. Has anyone out there seen this problem or a similar problem? Any advice would be appreciated. ============================== Brian Watkins watkins%hpspkla@hplabs.hp.com hplabs.hp.com!hpspkla!watkins
