All; Does anyone out on the Net have any experience with getting a Syquest SQ550 44MB removable media drive to work with a Microbotics Hardframe-2000 controller? SO far, the drive will low-level format OK, can prep each cartridge allright, BUT..... Upon trying to AmigaDOS format the drive, the drive will format halfway then will abort the format for no discernible reason....i.e. it just stops cold. No error message, no nothing. FORMAT with the Quick option just aborts immediately. Am using Microbotics FormatHF version 1.2 and RDPrep version 1.2. Any hints, advice would be appreciated! I don't know if this is your problem but there are some BIG compatibility problems with hardframes and Rev 6 motherboards. There may also be problems with other peoples DMA devices as well - I do not know. I bought a hardframe almost two months ago and to date still cannot use it on my 2000 because of the compatibility problem. Commodore knows about the problem and is/has been working it but Microbotics does not know when they will get the fix. In the meantime, I and I suspect others as well are sitting on a hardframe that is serving as a boat anchor. I'm a little pissed off about the entire affair. Not at the people who seem to be trying their best but the system is FOOBAR. The symptoms I got were similiar to yours and when I finally did get it formatted, it would hang the system at the drop of a hat with the disk light on constantly. This problem is NOT resolved with the U605 chip or resistor mod. They have been done to the Rev 6 board as manufactured. If ANYONE out there can tell me if/when this is going to be fixed, it would certainly be appreciated. I hope this is something I can do myself since I purchased my 2000 in Germany and I now live in Belgium. -- Jim Sanchez {sun, hplabs}!sytek!syteke!jim OR Hughes LAN Systems, Brussels mcvax!prlb2!sunbim!syteke!jim
