As I mentioned previously in this group I've been hacking on the version of MicroEMACS 3.10 that was posted a while ago. The changes I've implemented are as follows : - MicroEMACS now opens a custom, interlaced, screen for editing on. It defaults to using the courier 13 font, but you can select any font you wish with a command line switch. With courier 13 you get 30 rows of 90 characters. (Commmand switch -fFONTNAME/size the default is -fcourier/13 ) - All keymaps are supported including "dead keys" for things like umlat's and greek characters. To do this required dealing with the ALT keys in a somewhat convaluted way. The problem arises from the fact that EMACS would like to use ALT like another control key but the Amiga uses ALT to get to the "8-bit" characters in the font. My answer was to make one of the ALT keys work as an EMACS alt, and the other to work as the keyboard ALT. (left-Alt == EMACS, right-Alt == Amiga) - Left-Amiga is a synonym for Meta- right Amiga is reserved for menu short cuts, although it doesn't support menus yet. - It also has a pretty decent file name completion feature which I've made usable. Anyway, I need beta testers. And after a month or so I'll send the sources off to Dan and whomever else wants them. So if you want a copy, send me mail and I'll send you three messages back that contain the uuencoded binary. Note : If you don't know how to use microEMACS you will need the emacs.txt and emacs.hlp files that were part of the original binaries distribution on comp.binaries.amiga. And another note, the colors used on the screen (there are 8 of them) are my current favorites, but probably not yours. You can use the Palette program to change them while you are running, (C-X ! Palette) but I'm not sure how the palette emacs command is supposed to work in uEMACS so it isn't implemented yet. Things in the PIPE : - AREXX support. - Color Palette changes within emacs - Faster screen updates [note mail to cmcmanis@sun.com, or ...!sun!cmcmanis and *not* to anything screwy that may be in my reply address] --Chuck McManis uucp: {anywhere}!sun!cmcmanis BIX: cmcmanis ARPAnet: cmcmanis@sun.com These opinions are my own and no one elses, but you knew that didn't you.
