I was backing up my hard drive recently when I noticed another sound coming from my computer louder than my old floppy drive crunching away. It turned out to be my power supply, and it was making all sorts of popping and crackling noises as well as humming loudly (for a power supply, that is). I feel the PS and sure enough, I could fry eggs on it. Ok, I need a new PS. No big deal. So I call a few mail order companies looking for a Phoenix A500 PS since they sell one for $84... No go, Phoenix has been bought out and has stopped shipping, period. Great. So I call a local dealer, and he can set me up with a C= PS for $120. Ack! Does anybody have a better suggestion? My computer is off, and staying there until I can use it without frying the insides of my Amy... If I receive requests for info, I will post a summary of replies. David M. Buchthal
