I just ordered an amiga 500, and got it yesterday. I'm having problems with the disk drive. It has problems writing to disks that are not write protected - it claims that they are. Occasionally it will let me do a write, but most of the time it says they are write protected when they are definately not. Has anyone else had this problem? If so, is it easy to fix, or should I just send it back? Thanks! I've heard that some 3 1/2" diskettes don't work well with the Amiga due to the hole in the write/protect tab inadvertently lining up with the pin that checks to see if the disk is write-protected. Thus, your computer "thinks" that the diskette is write-protected. To test this, try placing a piece of tape over the tab (make sure that it is adhered securely to the diskette!) and see what happens. Hope this helps! harve! - Amiga: 'Nuff said!
