I'm writing this for a friend who just recently bought an Amiga 2000, with a PC-bridgeboard (XT). His question was: Is there any way to use a communications program through the Amiga Serial port, from the PC side, similar to the way that the PC side can access the parallel port? The parallel bridge software was included with the package, however nothing was mentioned anywhere as to how he could run an IBM communications package. The reason this is needed is that Bradley has a new computer which (for some weird reason) uses function keys with its menus; they also supply a communications package, but it only works with IBM compatibles operating through COM1: Any suggestions? england@bradley.UUCP

I've been using such a setup for over a year now. |Any suggestions? In <22300001@bradley> england@bradley.UUCP asks: >Is there any way to use a communications program through the Amiga >Serial port, from the PC side, similar to the way that the PC side >can access the parallel port? No, almost no one uses the BIOS routines for serial access (they're not very good) on an IBM PC (or clone) and write directly to the hardware. Since the hardware is on the Amiga side...it's not useable. The parallel port is implemented via BIOS access, so it's shareable.
