The drive seems to be working. I filled it up and it did not report any errors. I phoned Cache, and they basically said to just use the drive, and see what happens. C-LTD phoned me, and a tech told me that he suspected a severe hard error on the drive (most likely caused by UPS). He said that a hard error, especialy if it takes out 2 or more blocks in a row, can be very difficult for a level formatter to map out (in one run). He suggested that the several low level formats I did finally mapped it out, and that it was just a coincidence that the drive happened to format properly when I changed the flag BlockRead to NoBlockRead. He said the error(s) may decrease performance, but he said the drive should be relaible, based on his own experience with Micropolis 1674s. (They have a few of them at C-LTD). I am realy not sure what to think. But, if you have any ideas or programs that would thoroughly test the drive, let me know. BTW what is the status of CygnusEd Pro update? Any Info? I thought it was supposed to be September. Is November more realistic?
