After receiving several favorable replies to an incidental posting
recently in net.misc, I have decided to test the wider waters for
interest in such a newsgroup. People would subscribe to this
group to give or receive news about new places to enjoy nude
recreation. For instance, there are a lot of people in Oregon who
go out to the natural hot springs; they are very beautiful and
popular. Computer professionals like myself have been known to
seek out nude resorts when travelling to a conference or just
on vacation. And there will be plenty of room for philosophical
discussions. For instance, why is there no state support for the
burgeoning free beaches in the US? OR, why does the ASA only have
25,000 members when there are hundreds of thousands of registered
"naturists" in Europe??
I'm sure you've got the idea. Since nude recreation sites are not
usually listed in (American) travel brocures, we need word of mouth.
And, since so many are embarrassed to talk about the natural joy
of nude bathing, etc., we need to open up the discussion.
I personally feel that people are generally pretty primitive in
their attitudes toward their own bodies.
Let's hear it for net.clothes-opt. Other possible names might be:
net.nudism, net.naturism, net.freebodies, net.naked, net.gymnosophy (!),
or net.byte-o-tans (!!). Other suggestions for names should be posted to
net.general, but please send votes and comments to me by mail.
For those of you who have never tried it, I might mention that there
are very few specimens of *former* skinnydippers.
