I recently bought an Amiga 500 and I'm on a quest for the ultimate telecommunications software. I'd like to hear all recommendations and warnings, whether they be PD, shareware, or even (*gasp*) commercial. So far I've tried JRcomm, AZcomm, Handshake, Access!, Diga, and the telecom portion of The Works Platinum Ed. Each program has its high points, but each has its failings too. I use the modem a LOT, and I'm quite demanding of my comm program. :-) My wish list includes: o At least eight colors o Selectable foreground/background colors without altering the palette o Xmodem, Ymodem, Zmodem, and Kermit protocols o A *good* VT-100 emulation, including cursor keys and special character attributes (bold, inverse, underline, etc.) o Re-definable attributes for VT-100. For example, if the host is sending me boldface text, I want to display it as red or as inverse instead of the smearing that usually passes for boldface. o ANSI color control and graphics o A minimum of 24 lines on the screen, without using interlace o Script capability o Macro keys, preferably with the capability to re-map any key on the keyboard to a macro sequence o A phonebook with the ability to dial and launch a script o Adjustable redial capability I realize this is a tough order to fill. I have most of these capabilities (except for full keyboard remapping and redefinable VT-100 attributes) in the six term programs listed above. Unfortunately, none of programs has ALL of them! I'm currently using The Works. While it doesn't do much of anything really WELL, it at least makes a decent attempt at nearly everything on my list. /-----------------------------------------------------------------------------\ | It doesn't matter how good a computer it is, | Steve King (312) 991-8056 | | it can't multitask running anything and being | ...uunet!motcid!king | | turned off. | ...ddsw1!palnet!stevek | \-----------------------------------------------------------------------------/
