[comp.sys.amiga] Failure of clock on A501

antunes@ASTRO.PSU.EDU (Alex Antunes) (10/04/89)

Hello! My A501 512K memory board for my A500 has a problem. Although
the memory is fine, for some reason the clock doesn't work. When I use
Workbench 1.3, it says "battery backed-up clock not found". When I use
Workbench 1.2, it says "battery backed-up clock not functional" I took
it to my local repair place, but they said there aren't any schematics for
it so they couldn't fix it. Any suggestions? I checked the battery and
it's fine, with 1.2 it finds the clock so adjusting the pot capacitor didn't
help, I'm pretty clueless at this point! Any e-mail help is appreciated!

Try looking in Appendix F of the A500 Manual (Introduction to
	the AMIGA 500). Page F-11 has a schematic of a 512k expansion
ram card with a battery backed up clock (looks a lot like an
	A501 schematic to me).

In fact, I used this schematic to build my own 512k memory
expansion. (haven't built the clock circuit yet though).

I warn you however, that the schematics im my A500 manual
(copyright 1987) are not entirely accurate. (at least they
do not exactly match the circuitry in the A500 which the manual
	came with)
