[net.general] No hangups !

ck (02/24/83)

You have seen VA3451AD so many times ... yet here it is !

We have a Racal-Vadic Auto-dialer Model VA3451. We have
written our own dialer and interfaced it with UUCP via a
fork/execl. As long as we run it from UUCP the dialer hangs
up after the conversation. We also use it with a few other
calling programs where the dialer DOES NOT hang up after the
conversation unless the other end drops carrier ! I have
implemented the usual hang-up procedure of zeroed baud

i.e.	ioctl(dcf,TIOCHPCL,0) ... we run V7 UNIX ..

or	stty(B0,B0,1)

which does not work. I have corresponded with a few others
who wrote their own dialers and they don't seem to worry
about this problem [their use is limited to UUCP only!!].
I can't spend much time on this and I would appeciate any
help regarding this.

P.S.	Racal-Vadic people could simply have provided a
microcoded instruction for hang-up (oh, well..)
