You'll prpbably think this is a waste of bandwidth and place me at the top of Kent's list, but there are probably those that might be interested and don't read USA Today, Money section. Anyway, I saw this in today's (no pun intended) issue, reprinted without permission: QUOTE: A BYTE OF FAME: I*M Corp. had the cast of M*A*S*H. Commodore Business Machines Inc. has its own galaxy of stars. A new TV ad for Commodore's AMIGA line of personal computers presents an eclectic mix of celebrities. Among them: formaer House Speaker Thomas 'Tip' O'Neill; singers Little Richard and the Pointer Sisters; songwriter Burt Bacharach; astronauts Buzz Aldrin, Scott Carpenter and Gordon Cooper; and manager Tommy Lasorda of the Los Angeles Dodgers. The ad shows the celebs visiting a youngster named Stevie. They ask him to use his Amiga to help them with various problems. In two other TV ads, Stevie appears sans stars. Print ads showcase professionals who use Amiga in their work -- along with average people who also are Amiga users. Among the pros: guitarist B. B. King. The TV and print ads unveil a new slogan: 'Amiga. The computer for the creative mind.' They are by the Messner Vetere Berger Carey Schmetterer agency. The ads begin appearing Monday and will run through the Christmas shopping season. It would take a computer to keep track of the endorsements racked up by Amiga's stars. O'Neiil appears in ads for other marketers, including American Express and the Trump Shuttle. Lasorda pitches antacids and diet aids. The Pointers have warbled for Diet Coke. UNQUOTE: The usuals disclaimers apply, etc. I trust we will get plenty of air time and maybe even sell those 100,000 units supposedly needed to gain acceptance of our favorite computer by some of the so-called biggies on the industry. I was impressed just by the above announcement. Cheers, Dave CMSgt David K Detert, USAF MILNet: detert@lognet2.af.mil
