----> A590 in A1000 !!!! It was said earlier on the net that it is possible to hook up the A590 to the A1000 without ANY extra work. Is this true, I'll by one right away. * Is it true? * If so, isn't the A500 and A1000 busses diffrent in some way, I was told so by an Commodore representative. Does anybody know what the differeces are if there are any?

Since the 86 pin BUSS edge connectors are the same pin-outs on the A1000 and the A500 with the difference being that they are rotated 180 degrees from each other, the A590 should (and has) work on an A1000. We found this to be true with the Palomax hard drive interface, and it uses the same 86 pin edge connector and PCB on either machine, only difference is to rotate the card the requisite 180 degrees. Actually, you will have to do a small "Machanical Engineering" project on the A1000 to get the A590 to fit, but my UNOFFICIAL INFORMATION from, er, "someone who should know" is that it will work once you trim away a little plastic so that it can physically plug in. _____ | Todd M. I've been told by the people at Comspec that their controller for the 1000 will work without any difficulties in a five hundered as long as it it inserted upside down and backwards (ie 180 rotation) into a 500. It would seem that all controllers should be basically the same (wishful thinking, I know) so there shouldn't be a problem BUT....let the buyer beware! -- Mark Vange Phone Death Threats to: PAS Systems - "Plain and Simple" (416) 730-1352 mark@xrtll 8 Everingham Ct.
