I'm looking into the possibility of trading up from an Amiga 500 to an Amiga 2000. I wanted some information on Hard Drives and general expandability. The Questions: 1) Is the idea of a Hard Drive on a card more appealing even if the 5 1/4 peripheral port might not be necessarily used? Most "Hard Card" manufacturers say that if you use the first slot it only takes one slot. Is the first slot significant? If there anything else that requires it? 2) If DMA drives are so good and so fast, are non-DMA drives horrible? Is there a disadvantage in buying a SeaGate drive and compatible controller. 3) Will a HardCard work in every situation that a 'regular' Hard Drive will. (ie. Bridge Board.) I know these are probably common asked questions, but the need has never been there for me to know until now. Also, is there still such a thing as the A500 -> A2000 upgrade path? Mail Order or just Retail Store? Thanks.. =============================================================================== Bryan O'Connor | ARPA - bdo8650@cec2.wustl.edu | *UNDER CONSTRUCTION* Washington University |-------------------------------------------------------- Saint Louis, MO | "It rained, like a slow divorce..." - R.
