[comp.sys.amiga] cute games ...

to future game programers :
Make them look Cute !!!

I am starting to get tired of these games that use near realistic graphics.
The one that use tons of digitised pictures to convey a sensation of reality.
(psygnosis type).

Really, there are very few cute games on the amiga.
- Bubble Bobble .
- New Zealand Adventure .
Do I hear Giana Sisters ? Nahhhh . Cartoony but not bunny cutsy graphics.

Does Cutsy rule out shoot-them-ups ?
Not at all.
Remember the old Apple II and C-64 game by Broderbund called DROL ?
cute to the limit with the finger on the button of destruction.
A non-stop blasta-thon.

How about a simple Lode Runner conversion for the amiga ?

Where are all the dynamite programers who worked for Synapse softwares (R.I.P.)
(doesnt Blood Money -Psygnosis- look like Zeppelin - synapse softwares-)
and for Broderbund (before they got out of the game business) (what "Where the
hell is Carmen San Diego ?" is a game ????).
(remember the simplicity and addictiveness of David's Midnight MAgic ?)

How about Epyx ?
I have never been impressed by their games. (well perhaps Imp. MIssion on the
c-64 because of the digitised sound).
EOA ?
IFF standard is dying outside of the USA. The (majority of the good) games
are being imported and programmed from abroad.
Sierra ?
IBM gfx in an amiga box.

Did the creative spark move to europe leaving the USA with just the memory of
things past ? fast loaders , viruses , state of the art graphic tricks seem
to come from Europe ... Come on Guys wake up !!!

think about it ...

It's called Targis. Very nice, an older game, totally well behaved, comes
with level and icon editor. Buy it if you like strategy maze games.

But if you buy it, *DON'T* do what I did & throw out the box. It uses keyword-
on-the-box copy protection!
