The AmiExpo at Santa Clara Convention Center was a great show - less selling, but more showing! For anyone who didn't attend the Sunday exposition: UltraCard v1.4 was out. They got a 3-ring-binder manual for the program with 2 disks for $40 in the show, $50 suggested retail. Mike (the author) was demoing the UltraCard controlling a video disk player. Pretty neat! It was supposed to do even more! So, check with your dealer or call Intuitive Technology if you want to upgrade your version. Among the 4 stores at the AmiExpo, only Creative Computing seems to get the most current stuff: A500 with new Fatter Agnus+1.3 rom + WB 1.3.2,... I help them to sell two A500 because they have the new machines first. Oh, I am NOT working for them at all. Anyway, they give me commission for $32 on software credit. Is that great? I hope all the dealers will do the same thing. Remember CBM was doing that too (last year?). NewTek's booth seems to be the most promising: Video Toster, Digi-View 4.0 & Allen Hasting newest 3D animation program (not ray-tracing but has similar effect with much better speed on rendering, and it is only working with Video Toaster or compatible 24-bit frame buffer. Also, a single frame recorder is recommended!) WordPerfect is currently doing an update for Library (like the one for WordPerfect 4.1.11). The current Library seems cannot work with the new wp.library from the maintenance update. The expected released date should be next year! :-( Spirit Technology demo the expansion chassis for A1000/A500 which doesn't make you A1000/A500 an A2000, but has IBM slots to use IBM compatible peripherals directly from Amiga. It won't support BridgeBoard or IBM ram card, but will work with multi-io, or something like that with software. The software drivers will be provided for most peripherals, and others will be provided as PDs. CMI announced their Frame-O-Mat produced by Digital Imaging Solutions. It is a frame-buffer (24-bit), frame-capture (24-bit), and Genlocking. No price yet. Availability: 1st quarter, 1990. AmigaWorld anounced the Amiga Developer's Association which will be launched on March 15, 1990 at AmiExpo in Wahington D.C. Afterward, AmigaWorld will NOT involve in the ADA at all so there will be no influence from them. The main goal of the ADA is to influence the CBM decision on how to market, and what to produce. All developers or those whose livelihood depend on Amiga (like video artist, artist, musician, engineer or animators) are invited. If you want to join, you must R.S.V.P. to Wendie Hanies Marro by Decemeber 31. The address is: Amiga Developer's Association 80 Elm Street Peterborough, NH 03458 Attn: Wendie Haines Marro That's it for the scoop! Hope there will be more AmiExpo in the Silicon Valley to make the Apple's fans know they are not the only ones in the valley! :-) +---------+----------------------------+----------------------------------+ | ///| Morris Y.
