Hello net,
I am having some strange probelms with my 500. Here is the system
state and symptoms: (Please note, the local shop hasn't a clue as to
whats going on here...)
Amiga 500
Inboard 1.5 (mem board that plugs into CPU socket)
a501 512 mem expansion - Total mem = 2.5
Kronos hard drive controler
ST277n hard drive
I*M power supply driving both computer and drive (the hard
drive is direct connected to the supply, not powered
through the bus)
Amiga 2000 case in which all this stuff has been mounted
Symtoms:
random 4 to 5 pixel long lines when I load an image
in hires. (Shows up in some games too) -
*note*, the effect occurs even if the image is loaded from
the floppy, not just the hard drive.
If a GURU occurs, the normal words
"Software failure press left mouse..."
are all kinda squished together on the left side of
the screen . . The amount of overlap, etc varies w/
the crash.
The hard drive will sometimes boot and crash repeatedly
until I turn the machine of for a minute, then things
are fine. (This may be unrelated, since it could be
caused by the controler getting confused by the other
odd things going on)
I had my friend at the local computer shop run the Commodore
system test program on it and everthing checked out.
(mem, sound, blitter, etc all seemed to work) We ran
it for 2 hours.
The problem USUALLY goes away when I take the cover off. however,
as of last night, it did it even after I had removed the
cover.
Well, I am at the nets mercy, since I have no idea what to do next.
