Ok, lets say something is broken. I posted a HyperText viewer program (with sources). ITs not real fancy (no graphics), but does IMHO make a good on-line help system. Anybody wanted it posted here? Any objections to posting it here? The binary+docs ==~90k, and the source == ~90k (.zuu format) Joe Porkka porkka@frith.egr.msu.edu

I don't know what the policy on posting binaries/sources here is, and suspect it would be much better if the problem with comp.{binaries, sources}.amiga were fixed. But if you must post them here, _please_ do not post them in one huge hunk. When posted all in one day, they can wreck havoc on file systems that are nearly full before someone official has a chance to fix the problem. I know of at least one site no longer receiving them because of large postings during one weekend in the last year. Controlling how much is posted is one reason comp. {b/s}.amiga is and should be moderated. Rob Hasker

Reminder: Source/binary postings not in comp.sources.amiga are not
automatically archived (at least not at xanth). This means
that code doesn't get immortalized, and the group will be
constantly seeing "Could someone mail me such and such."
Unless the code is of earth shaking importance, try to be patient with

I am very reluctant to uudecode any binary posted to an unmoderated newsgroup. Unfortunately, the "large" number of viruses floating around force one to practice "Safe Computing." :-(. -- Mark Bailey (I didn't really say this.) via: ...!uunet!pyrdc!isi!mark ------Have a 8-| day!!!!!

Any problems with this? No difference. It also isn't archived here, primarily because there's no consistant format to the articles. It takes a moderator to ensure that there aren't name conflicts and to tack on the right headers... Then there's the group that complains that they don't get the alt groups, etc. This morning I had lots of mail from my archiver software telling me about all the new stuff that arrived in comp.sources.amiga and comp.binaries.amiga, so I think things are now better... ...tad

alt.sources.amiga is there and working. Although there are clearly disadvantages to it being unmoderated, one big advantage is that there is no single choke-point for programs that may delay them by weeks, months, or forever. -- -- uunet!sugar!karl "There is hopeful symbolism in the fact that -- flags do not wave in a vacuum." -- Arthur C. I posted something a few days ago, called Genlib. As far as I know, it posted ok. Did it make it out? I haven't heard from anyone about it. Genlib is a handy utility which makes it real easy to create your own disk-based run-time libraries in C or assembler. It does all the hard work of generating tables, link stubs, etc., and is designed for use in makefiles to be as automatic as possible. Source is included. I'd like to hear comments from anyone who's used it. I plan to submit it to comp.sources.amiga, but would like to discover and fix any problems with it before doing so. -- Ron Hitchens _____ | ronbo@vixen.uucp - Smart uucp Sleepless /(O O)\ | ...!cs.utah.edu!caeco!vixen!ronbo - Stupid uucp Software (^) | hitchens@cs.utexas.edu - Internet "To be is to do" -Socrates "To do is to be" -Sartre "Do be do be do" -Sinatra
