My point in the original posting was that marketing pizzazz is almost as
important as the actual system. And since Nintendo has established itself
as the dominate home gaming system they already have a jump ( a very large one)
on, lets say, any other company that decides to release a "real" computer for
the home market.
Lets look at it, Nintendo is a name reconized by the majority of middle income
households ( in fact most people I know have one) and is almost idolized by
todays youth ( Too bad ). They are already moving towards more traditional
computer applications ( the home broker cartridge available in Japan, for e.g.)
So I dont think it would take many tricks to make a serious foothold in the
home computer market, the tricks already used should be sufficient.
To keep this relevant to this news group let me say that Commodore and Atari
are staring realize that for now the home market is where their best chance is
at continued growth, and if Nintendo were to come out with there own system
they could very well corner the market, just by riding on the name alone. So
the recent adverts pushing toward the "generic" home user is IMHO a farsighted
realization by CBM that the competition could get very hot for the average
electronic consumers $$$$. And if Nintendo surpasses the other "home" computer
makers they will be the market leader, Then they can call the shots (again).

    	 I can see it now.......
