Well, I just found out that beepit doesn't work with vt100 (beepit is a program which modifies DisplayBeep() so that it gives an audible tone rather than flashing the screen). I remember some discussion about such programs causing problems a while ago - was a program ever found which was a good substitution (sorry, I wasn't paying attention then)? It would be REALLY nice if Commodore put an option in preferences to allow you to choose an audible beep or a screen flash. Is it IN THERE???? :-) -- ------------------------------------------------------------------------ // Bill Dimm wdimm@lehi3b15.csee.Lehigh.EDU wcd0@lehigh.BITNET \X/ "It's not the facts but the explanation that counts." - unknown ------------------------------------------------------------------------

The reason why VT100 doesn't work with beepit is that it uses its own
code to generate the beep.
There is an init file option which controls the beep. Set to zero,
the screen flashes. Anything higher than 0 is a volume level for the
beep.
