[comp.sys.amiga] Excellence

CRONEJP@UREGINA1.BITNET (Jonathan Crone) (07/21/88)

Is there anyone else out there who is as pissed off and disappointed
in Micro Systems feeble efforts on this piece of garbage product????

Its slow, buggy, DOESN'T FORMAT OUTPUT TO the page properly
etc. etc. etc.. I better not get started or I'll be going all night.

I only have one thing to say....
if you need a real word processor, buy word perfect, god only knows i
should have.
if you need wsyiwig, buy either Prowrite or Kind words...

don't waste your time or money on excellence.

If anyone wants this huck of shit program cheap, I'm entertaining
offers....

Flame me if you want.... but for crying out loud, word perfect in
its first release was better than this junk.

My wife is going to be starting her master's thesis next term. Thus,
we want to buy a word processor for my Amiga.

I own an Amiga 500 with 1 Meg of memory and an external floppy. Pretty
basic machine.

Am I going to be happy with Excellence? Does it do anything obnoxious
like work best with 6 Meg of memory and flicker-fixer? You get the
general idea.

The shop I was in last night told me that Excellence was available for
$99 to students. And it can dump in PostScript. And it can have graphics
inserted. In other words, it sounds like a good choice. But what do people
In The Know think?

Drop me a line if you can -- I'm thinking of buying something this Saturday.
Thanks. -Joe

You probably were using "normal" print in Excellence if the letters were
all pudgy like that. If you switch to "NLQ" with a Topaz 11 font, you can
get great output.
