I have a 277N with the C Ltd. 2000 SCSI host/controller. I too have always had the series of additional disk accesses. I previously used the same 277N with a Supra interface, and I don't recall having that series of additional accesses. I have always assumed they were a function of the C Ltd interface, not the 277N. I also learned the hard way how important it was to wait for the blips. I shut down one day after using CED to edit my startup-sequence but before the blips. I later discovered that I had lost my startup-sequence and it had been replaced by a file with a name something like CygnusEd280.temp (I'm sure that is not the correct filename, but it did include some reference to CED, a three digit number, and the letters "temp". Then I could never get rid of that temp file. I have also had spurious disk accesses from time to time with this combination over the last 9 months. They bothered me at first, but I have never seen any adverse effects from them. And I've never seen any evidence of viral infection. -- Ernie Gorrie 9431 McBurney Drive, Richmond, B.C. I have always assumed they were a function of the C > Ltd interface, not the 277N. As I stated before this first started happening with me as soon as I had a new ST277N-1 installed in my B2000. Previous to this drive I had an orginal ST277N (without the '-1') and it ran flawlessly for 11.25 months (on a 1 year warranty :-) ). This was with the orginal Cltd controller (Adaptec). The new drive made noise from the beginning with the old adaptec and now sounds the same with the new Kronos. It sounds like a problem with the new drive and Cltd controllers.
