[comp.sys.amiga] 1084, terminals, and bridgeboards

< my mother was a line-eater>

As the subject line implies, there are three seperate parts to this
message.
1. A week or so ago, there were several postings about interlace problems
with the 1080 and 2084 monitor (fuzziness mainly). People mentioned
fix-kits for the 2080, but never said anything about the 1084. Is there
a fix kit??? If so what is its Commodore part number? My monitor just
keeps getting worse and worse.

2. I have A-Talk III, and use it to connect to the Vaxes at school. I
have also used Handshake, VT-100, and VLT to some extent while searching
for the perfect terminal program. Although all these work well, my search
continues... Is there ANY terminal program for the Amiga that supports
VT-240 or 340 <-- (340 preferred of course) terminal emulation? Failing
that does anyone know what is required to set a vax up to support a tek
4014 (I think, whichever tektronix terminal A-Talk emulates) terminal as a
normal terminal like a vt-220, -320, etc.?

3. *FOR SALE* 2088 bridgeboard (and 5 1/4 inch floppy drive), like new.
Used very seldom (I like my Amiga software better, and didn't need it like
I thought I would). I still have the original box, docs, disks, etc.
I would REALLY like to trade someone for a good ram board. Also, maybe
one of you disgruntled HardFrame owners with version 6.? motherboards would
like to work out a deal. Price is negotiatable.

Thanks for your time in reading all this. Any answers via E-mail, unless
of interest to the net (like vt-340 emulation? maybe?), blah, blah, blah.

No, there isn't any VT24x emulator for the Amiga (YET :-). There is nothing
really you have to do to a 'vax' to support Tek 4014 emulation. Host
programs (mainly CAD programs like DISSPLA, SAS, TEMPLATE, etc..) normally
provide "drivers" that will output in either Tek 4014 (monochrome) or
Tek 41xx (color). If you write your own programs, you can get the Tek 4014
User's manual directly from your local Tektronix sales office. If the vax
is running UNIX, quite a few utilities are included that output in Tek 4014
format (look at graph(), plot(), ged()). The Tek4014 can't really be used
as a 'normal' terminal. Its main use is for graphics output. For text,
you're better off with any DEC VT-1xx emulator.

Check out Meshugena V2.0.1. It is a VT220 terminal emulator with the
capability of handling 7 sessions using the "uw" unix windows protocol.

Is this version of Meshugena any faster than 1.0? I stopped using
it because it slowed 9600 baud down input to the point that it was close
to 2400. The lack of file transfer and printer dumps also made me
give it up.
