I'm sitting here looking at a brochure for "Distant Suns", which is a new name for the latest version of "Galileo". The brochure mentions a Galileo-to-Distant Suns upgrade, but doesn't go into details. Anybody know?... * how to get the upgrade * how much it costs * when it'll be available Thanks, Paul Gootherts Hewlett-Packard Co UUCP: {hplabs, ucbvax}!hpda!pdg Internet: pdg%hpisoa1@hplabs.HP.COM

As you've heard, Distant Suns = the new upgrade from Galileo. Mike Smithwick is handling the upgrades from Galileo himself, though. If you're a registered owner, you'll get an upgrade notice in a couple of weeks. In any case, if you own Galileo 1 or 2, you can upgrade to Distant Suns by sending $15 (throw in the sales tax if you live in CA) and your original disk to : Mike Smithwick 25215 La Loma Drive Los Altos Hills, CA 94022 Other goodies available with Distant Suns (you can probably get these from the Virtual Realities folks): - An image disk with 215 images of star clusters, galaxies and nebula. I've seen a couple of these; they pop up in a corner of the screen, maybe 2" square. C-U-T-E! Yeah, there's info about the pictures too. It's $30, called "Image Disk Level I." - A BIG star database of 20,000 stars, called "Skymap level I." On two disks, needs a meg of RAM and a hard disk (for 1.15 meg of stuff.) That's $25. - The standard Yale Brightstar Catalog (I guess the one offered with Galileo 2) of 9100 stars. $18. Just today got the new (November) Amazing, and wonder of wonders, Mike's new publisher is actually advertising the thing! Kinda goofy - "control the universe"? - computer-techo font? - Escherian symbols? Oh well, better than nothing - it's on p. 96. (Nah, I don't get anything but brownie points for saying this.) -- =-=-=-=-=-=-=- Robin LaPasha |Deep-Six your ruslan@ecsvax.uncecs.edu |files with VI! ;^) ;^) ;^)

Or supply an email address for Mr. Smithwick? It sounds interesting. -- Darren
