In the process of trying to explain the Amiga hardware and interfacing it with the CMI VI500 video encoder to the people at Radio Shack (I am trying to get the appropriate cables for dubbing), I noticed something strange. I have the book "Introduction to the Commodore AMIGA 2000" which came with my computer. On page 2-4 there is a section called Location of Connectors. I note the video port, parallel port, external disk port, serial port, and 2 audio ports. HOWEVER, when I look on the back of MY AMIGA 2000, there is an ADDITIONAL port labelled Mono Video. This in NOT covered in my manual. What is it? Is this a monochrome video output? If so, how does it come into play with my video encoder? Thanks, Scott Sutherland sutherla@qtp.ufl.edu

This in NOT covered in my manual. What is it? You should have gotten the "Amiga 2000 Manual Update" with your system, I did. It says: "The Amiga 2000 you purchased has been upgraded since the _Introduction to the Amiga 2000_ was printed; the information presented in this documents reflects these changes". "The composite monochrome video connector should be listed among Amiga interfaces". You can use it with a black-and-white monitor, or record b&w on your VCR directly. The video encoder gets all the signals it needs elsewhere. -- Joe Smith (408)922-6220 | SMTP: JMS@F74.TYMNET.COM or jms@gemini.tymnet.com McDonnell Douglas FSCO | UUCP: ...!{ames,pyramid}!oliveb!tymix!tardis!jms PO Box 49019, MS-D21 | PDP-10 support: My car's license plate is "POPJ P," San Jose, CA 95161-9019 | narrator.device: "I didn't say that, my Amiga did!"
