[comp.sys.amiga] Whatever happened to...

dbk@teroach.phx.mcd.mot.com (Dave Kinzer) (07/12/89)

Just when I was about to ask: "Does anybody know what happened to
Leo? He used to be an active part of this group." he goes and shows
up in rec.humor with a rather funny bit that everyone in this group
should go and read.

His name came up in our user group meeting. Something about the scroll
mode of AMax being just like a Schwab screen hack. ;^)

Sorry Leo, I did not notice that the message was cross posted. I read
this stuff at 1200 baud (Strike that! Insert: bits per second 8^) ) so
I have the news reader only give me the author and subject from the header.
I saw it in rec.humor first and the reader (mercifully) marks all cross
posted versions as read. Pretty good humor though.

What ever happened to...

  1. Dave Wecker (of VT100 fame.) The last that I heard (long ago) was that
DEC was very irate about VT100, and that they had threatened him (he
worked for DEC) into abandoning the program and leaving the net (at
least publicly.) What is he doing these days? If I have mangled the
      story, please correct me.

  2. John Draper (aka Cap'n Crunch of Gadget Editor fame.) The last that I
heard of him was that his computer equipment had been confiscated due
to alledged counterfeiting of BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit?) tokens?
As far as I know, the Gadget Editor was never really completed and
debugged. (Programming by committee is always difficult.) What really
happened? What is he doing now?

I e-mailed him about a month ago concerning the latest version of VT100. He's
no longer using the Amiga. He sold the Ami. for a PC portable.
Others have taken over the job of releasing new versions of VT100.
