Last night, I downloaded a WARPed copy of the new Amiga Dealer Demonstration diskette from PLink, and I must say I was quite unimpressed. The graphics and sound are very nice, and the self-running version makes the demo a very good eye-catcher - the kind of thing that makes a store demo work. That's not the problem. In fact, I've found two problems. One, there is a serious bug in this disk. When the "menu"-type screen appears, and you select your option, the disk shows the "more information" screens, THEN the title screen for that particular section, then REPLAYS the "more information" screens again before going back to the menu. (Note, however, that if you avoid the keyboard completely, the demo works beautifully.) The other problem I have is more of a gripe. For the video section, a number of nicely drawn, informative screens are shown, with music in the background throughout. But if you try to get more information on most other topics, all you get is a single screen with a lot of words that say nothing. (The music is still there, too.) The disk is so empty that I think a little more substance could have been put onto it. Now, before anybody flames me for starting another one of those "an advertise- ment should be substantial" threads, you have to see the demo to see what I really mean. I agree that an ad (which is what the demo is, and should be) should be eye-catching, and leave the details up to the dealer, but after seeing the "video" portion of the demo, I was considerably let down by the rest of it. +-------///--------------------| BRETT KESSLER |--------------------\\\-------+ | /// E-Mail to: consp11@bingvaxu.cc.binghamton.edu \\\ | | /// or try: consp11@bingsuns.pod.binghamton.edu \\\ | | \\\/// and to: consp11@bingvaxa.BITNET \\\/// | | \XX/ or on PeopleLink: B.KESSLER \XX/ | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+
